Designing Clothing Around Alaska Weather
Why weight, fit, and layering come before the graphic.
Most apparel is designed around a temperature range that Alaska does not respect. A summer tee here is a shoulder-season tee in a lot of the country. A winter hoodie has to layer under a shell in a way that thinner blanks cannot.
That is why the Core Issue tee is a 7.5 oz heavyweight and the Core Issue hoodie is a boxy 14 oz brushed fleece — both cut relaxed enough to layer without stretching out of shape after a season.
Fit matters more than the graphic. The graphic is a bonus.
